Dear Mr.Wikiwalet! This moning to day, I test s'Tsunami at my BH at cu chi-HCM. the whether suny, small cloud, time : 8-10 AM. norman 8-10 AM little bird, I have to use many good sound get to more bird. To day use s'tsumani resul very good. many swiftlet roving around BH and go through entran hole. I want use s'Tsumani sound for April month. Let's give me advice! Best regard.
s'tsunami is just the name boss.. project name is se v46.. considering sev46 ft tsunami,, so what i did was just named it after the legendary sound D'tsunami.. sorry if i make you confuse.. :)
honestly i belief everyone of us should have our own primary sound , it is a tested and proven mattered to ensure your own birds always come back.. Besides this is how bh owner should progressed.
what you need to do is start a swiftlet sound loop album.. Based on sound observation you should be able to identify which part of the sound is good.. from there you can do some research try to understand the swiftlet sound segment.. Once you get the rhythm it will be so easy, trust me.
Most important please share with wiki the good loops you discovered.. :)
maybe you can try another method of sound looping... start with pooling to gather the birds within your bh sound coverage then only use sound like s'tsunami to bring the birds closer to your hexagon.. with good roving room sound you should be able to pull the birds into your bh..
Based on above consideration , try to strategies your sound timing .. you will be surprise to realise how easy you can get the birds into your bh and best part more & more birds will join the crowd.. :)
tested yesterday 1800-1900 with SE limited edition 2 on my HEX, raining day around 30++ birds above my birds house 1900-1930 change to S'tsunami the birds start come down and playing at my entrance hole at last got around 5-6 stay inside. Do i nid to turn the vol down a little bit to bring the birds down? THANKS WIKI :)
I am glad to hear your bh suit SE sounds. May i ask are you using any magnet tweeter for you hexagon? If yes you should consider using S'tsunami for your morning session as well , the result should be good !
ok i will gv a try once done will updated with u again. my bh is in rural area so got not much bird.. hopefully ur sound will bring more bird to my BH TQ
Dear Wiki boss, I'm not so sure what is the differences btw pooling and external sound... Can you explain some? I'm using same sound for the hexagon tower and entrance hole last time... After you provide me the EH1 & EW, I use EH1 at entrance and EW at hexagon tower... I not so sure what sound is for pooling and entrance hole... I cannot differentiate them...
Pooling sound tend to have more repeating like tiktiktiktik , from my understanding many used such method mainly for pooling / calling /gathering purpose . Easiest way to differentiate a good pooling sound is just look at the sky.
Good external entrance hole sound , you should be able to see birds playing at your entrance hole or dive straight into your bh.
In addition, nowadays we also come across with pooling plus entrance hole sound/external in view to strong demand by user or bh owner, what ppl want to experience is birds entering BH & Make nest obviously , not just flying in the sky...
Therefore, swiftlet sound had been more complicated then before , just imagine the numbers of try and error in order to create a sound that able to attract the birds within your bh sound coverage zone , yet need to direct the birds to your bh roof top , eventually into to your entrance hole , your nesting room and yet remain excited in your bh.
All within the 2 hours period of time (5pm till 7pm).
What i had mentioned above is also part of the reason why many consultants usually advise their client to use the same sound for hexagon and entrance hole. Besides, not all bh are design to play more than 4 external sound :). Again Consultants are more $$$ orientated , no point putting himself in the line of execution.
All in all there is no right or wrong.. at the end of the day, Irregardless what you did with your bh as long as you achieved your ROI expectation, then you are doing the right way... It is just the matters of time..
Referring back to your question , not able to differentiate which is pooling and extrance hole..
The answer is pretty simple :)
sometimes we do not need to know how to differentiate.
Solution :
1st you need to decide one sound - THE sound for your ENtrance hole , once you have decided you life will be so much more easier.
Lastly, you can select any sound for your hexagon , obviously the one with the best respond (in and out) will be your hexagon sound. note: Correct method of observation is very important. Sometimes sound that able to attract few hundred birds may not be the best choice of sound for you bh.
I hope i answered your question my dear friend.. If u still have doubt email me directly. :)
wiki after reading so much of your post i can guess that your Bh is using 5 sound,1 sound for Hex, 1 sound for Entrance, 1 sound pointing the sky, 1 sound for Internal roving, and lastly the internal sound, right @@? Please tell me if i miss'ed any.. wanted to try your method if im to build a new BH.
Your hex and halalangit tweeter gather the bird, den your entrance pull them in, lure them into your nesting room with a "roving" sound?
How do you differate "roving", is it those sound with some bird hunger part?
Do you play your hex and HL all-day? (looping different pooling sound)
For your information other than residential & commercial development , i always wanted to build a swiftlet bungalow project... Everything already in place but very unfortunate everything turn out the other way round.. :)
referring to your thoughts , yes i always wanted to full blast my bh but again always face tweeters problem.. for the last 1 week i had change 5 tweeters already yet still unable to identify the main problem why my tweeters always burn out.. Initially i thought it was my wiring but after changing & fine tuning all the possibilities yet my super tweeter not able to deliver the end results.. SO CONFUSE..
At the moment, i only have the privileges to use 3 sounds for my external. Hopefully i will be getting my tweeters arrived next 2 weeks.. Sad but this is the truth. :)
I hope someone can enlighten me what when wrong , is it the combination of magnet & piezo for hexagon causing my magnet tweeter burn out? or is it my amplifier unable to support 5 tweeters 1 magnet + 4 piezo ??? or the hot & Cold weather ?
Again , I am so confuse ... changing tweeters is not fun at all..
Dear Wiki, my opinion below. More likely the burn out caused by overdriven. The impedance of magnet type is much lower than piezo. If connected in parallel with same amp port, more current will flow through the magnet one (louder sound as well). Better to use all magnet or piezo with one port.
What you said is really true before this i did made the same mistake as the result all my previous magnet eventually all got burn. After separating the magnet and piezo , my magnet tweeter lasted 2 mths till lately start giving me problems again.
i think it's impossible that your amplifier can't support ONLY 1 magnet and 4 tweeter .. maybe it's the weather, is all your burnt tweeter exposed to the weather are they "waterproof"? Then you may want to try cover your wiring with silicon.
Check your piezo tweeter +- with a test kit, make sure they're always showing 0. Magnetic tweeter maybe will give a slight different reading though(never usedthem before)
my magnet tweeter tweeter is actually water proof .. yet i still covered it in a proper box.. Hmm, 2 things i overlook forgot to use the test kit to check the reading and did not calculate the ohm value every since i change to a new magnet tweeters.. Thanks guys.!!
yea i agree with Xian, u should use different port or amp for piezo and magnet so they don't "short" each other out -_-
My BH pool is leaking(emptied now(patching)), btm planks a little bit soaked with water .. i read in some blog i should use salt water to spray on the planks to anti-fungus grow .. any guys got better idea or have tried this method before? Thanks!!
i hav also tried some liquid solutions on fungus growth previously. but i don think they work as claimed.
Right now i just use copper brush to remove the white powdery fungus from wood surface, then i scorch the affected area with small gas torch. by using this, the remaining moisture inside wood will seep out. but b careful not to burn other components and cause fire!!
It has been quite effective for me. but i still don hav a clue on how to solve the black fungus problem. or mayb black fungus means cancer to wood? cant be cured anymore? so far, i cannot remove the black fungus fomr wood, but i can stop it from spreading by using the burning method.
Dear Sifu Wiki, Just my experience, i faced the similiar problem of amplifier got burnt...(technical "mambo-jumbo" asides), the piezo and magnetic tweeters just simply don't "click"...I believe we cannot mix them together, they must be in one channel by themselves...
Dear Sifu Wiki, you don't mind share with us how you protect your tweeter if it is mounted upright 90 degree facing the sky...you mentioned you protect it by constructing a box... can you or other teman2 out there can enlighten us... thank you very much...
just for your info my super waterproof tweeter the one facing 90 Degree facing the sky got burn out last few days , there is no rain or whatsoever but very likely it is the heat and my setting of my amplifier and all the possibilities as shared.
Hopefully the electrical technician dropping by tomorrow will be able to solve my latest crisis...
Btw, for the last few days i only play my 90 degrees sound whenever i am around my bh.. Just place a tweeter outside your bh entrance door or anywhere from the ground. . the results is so much more effective.
Note: once you successfully pull all the birds nearer to your bh soften the sound volume and eventually turn it off..
There will be a new project sound coming up, mainly for piezo tweeters .. :) I guess sooner or later i will be left without option other than using piezo tweeters to attract birds .
ME!! All tweeter in my Bh is of piezotic type :) Currently patching up my leaking pool though .. Gonna maintaince those Ex-Tweeter the same time, best time to test sound^^
Bro wiki i m as curious as abrath ..please share your info in protecting tweeter from water @@
Glad to hear about piezo sound project coming up soon!
looking fwd to it since all my hex tweeters are piezo!
i hav 2 hex tweeter sets, 1 set full peizo 1 set full coil. is the sound produced by coil tweeters more similar to piezo or magnet?
Sifu Wiki, hav u tried adding short PVC pipes to the tweeter cone? silicone the joints and drill some holes below the PVC pipe. this has worked quite well for me in rain proofing the tweeters.
Dear Wiki, Instead of giving up magnetic/horn tweeter, tune down the volume to proper level is an alternative also for them to last longer. Most electrical component has one parameter, called max rating. Working at condition exceed max rating will shorten the life. Intuitively, 50%~80% of max rating should be safe. You may use a spare tweeter of same type to check volume point where sound start to get distortion and then scale down by around 30~40%. (Beware that I do not have chance to try this yet till end of Apr.)
The other way for mixing use of piezo/magnetic is to connect a piezo in series to a magnetic type tweeter, then flow through current will be limited by that piezo, thus prevent overflow current.
Well, thru my testing of sound i feel that both piezo and coil type hex can effectively attract birds. but my preference is towards piezo tweeter hex because i think the sound produced are less sharp, might b easier on ears of swiftlet. so i always use the piezo one. the coil hex is just for spare in case the piezo broke down. But i might b wrong, mayb due to the sound i play and my amp setting. mayb other sounds and setting, coil tweeter will be better.
but my own opinion is the entrance sound must b better than the hex. so the birds will be more attracted to entrance rather than just play all the time with hex sound. so my entrance tweeter i hav 1 magnet and hex i use the peizo type. this is my way used to divert the birds attention from hex to entrance.
mayb changing into magnet tweeter hex is good to attract more new birds to come and play. well, i wish to try to if i hav the time.
Boss Xian12, pls keep us updated about ur result with magnet hex.
im using small gas torch like this one http://i01.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/11739401/Gas_Torch.jpg i will move the flame in a quick manner from right to left over the surface of the wood with fungus. the heat of the flame will take out the moisture in the wood.
for the white powdery fungus on the wood surface, u can brush it off with copper brush something like this one http://www.asia.ru/images/target/photo/50513258/Copper_Wire_Brush.jpg
all these tools u can buy from general hardware store.
some advise to use liquid solution to kill the fungus, but i think this will add extra moisture to the wood.
