Just want to share what happen to my bird house. It was sad when I visit BH yesterday. The bird of the only 1 nest already gone based on the bird shit on the floor. Now the nest count back to zero again.
No new bird shit since 2 months ago. I don’t know what happen; just suspect maybe is the bird sound. My BH area is very competitive 3 BH at the back, 1 BH left, 1 BH right, and 1 BH opposite the road. my BH is stand alone double brick open roof. My BH is 5 months old
1st month
Pooling sound: black cloud
External sound: redwave2
Internal sound: arief ???
Result: nothing happen
All the above sound provided by the consultant. I only get know the song’s name when i plug in the laptop. When I ask the consultant about the sound it is very reluctance for him to share anything.
2nd month
Pooling sound: redwave2 (consultant just shift the wire to left)
External sound: redwave2
Internal sound: arief ???
Result: nothing happen
3rd & 4th month
Pooling sound: kulai star (from consultant)
External sound: kulai star (from consultant)
Internal sound: arief ???
Result: 20 new bird shit in first 3 weeks. After that many of the bird not coming back bases on the bird shit dry out remain 4 until now. At the same time the neighbour BH 200m away place 2 tweeters blast to my BH. Even inside end of my BH can hear clearly the sound. But i just keep my sound low(comfort for human ear). I have no idea is it the root cause. I ask the consultant, he say need to wait(pattern like something don’t want to say) . Due to the result is not promising i direct ask him, i want to buy some proven sound. He says his sound is not for sale. Unless need to consult him by monthly basis with extra $$$ every month. Since the bird house is built by him and agreed all include sound. That really makes me not feel good. So, last week when i found this blog i just download some sound and change my BH sound. Below is the sound used.
5th month (yesterday) 20/8/12
Pooling sound: Nestech pooling sound (share by friend)
External sound: Kgod (i download from wikiwalet)
Internal sound: (arief ??? –right) and (babyking-left i download from wikiwalet)
I will share the result in future.
Hope Wikiwalet can help to advice on the sound.

Reading your part of Swiftlet experience reminded me when I first started my bh .. I was a great fan of blackcloud at one time , very powerful crowd but birds just don't stay.. as for redwave I come to understand that the mating power just not so compatible for new bh considering our bh environment almost equal to zero birds .. but redwave should be a great sound if your bh already come with at least 100 birds (just my thought)..
As for pooling , our Malaysian Swiftlet sound provider name had always been bad, tarnish by certain money orientated consultant, too driven by big crowd effect .This is the feedback by many real PHD walet, sad but very true..
btw, have I ever share babyking in my blog just curious, maybe you are referring to SE babyking .. hmm why not u try Desire Inap and babyking Ori this combination should be able to answer your internal concern . Note babyking is very common in Malaysia so having Desire inap should be able to encounter BK. try concerntrate on one Nesting Room instead , make sure you have one special wiring for this special VIP Nesting Room, trust me this special room with direct wiring will be the 1st to show immediate results .
In addition, as I always said sound is almost free nowadays don't bother to spend your unnecessary money buying average sound , start invest in amplifier even the small one is just find considering each small amp can support up to at least 30 tweeters delivering solid quality sound .
in event your consultant claim the sound shared by WE bird house owners and wikiwalet blog is less quality , trust me such statement really don't make sense . free doesn't mean less quality besides if the consultant really understand how Swiftlet sound is created he will definitely agree with me :) ..
So referring back to your concern, try this method my dear friend :
with the assumption new BH should always be able to attract big curious swiftlet crowd
INTERNAL : make sure you deliver a safe and secure sound content , baby Shh shh sound like Babyking and Desireinap. Birds normally made this sound in the night sometimes even when they are asleep and morning as well .. Remember also to include sound like victory inap to make your bh more alive or you can try Nwo more birds playing sound . (70% sound are recorded inside BH 30% real advance sound recording, conducted while swiftlet flying high)
ENTRANCE HOLE : pls understand if u go with too much mating you will definitely find it a little bit more challenging to bring your birds into your bh so for your case which is the best entrance hole sound I seriously cannot answer you the accurate answer, but u can try limitless version, coming home or victoryinap .. Maybe EH1 should be able to start the engine as well..
POOLING : go with less extreme version try to attract Babybirds and be patience , attracting inmatured birds might not be the best direction , this birds will normally take few months to really settle down with your bh worst part the male always prefer to follow the female . However this immatured birds is still the easiest to capture . So :) u need to balance your sound content , easiest way is start to explore the art in playing more than one external sound for your Bh.. How ? ask your consultant.
Pooling sound suggestion : try experiment SE first generation sound in my blog.. once u start to understand how swiftlet sound really works try the more concentrated sound also available in this blog... Sam good thing being the underdog bh in your location is you can effort to adopt more advance sound selection , blast more varieties of sound and turn your bh to an exceptional bh in your location ... don't worry this generation swiftlet is far more domesticus then before , they even respond to trance music..
DeleteLast suggestion, start considering spending more hours with your hard end money you had invested into your bh , if you find it paying for consultant hourly charges not really troubling you , my advise use this money to buy more powerful tweeters , invest in water pump and start breeding more insects to turn ur bh to a real bird paradise.
Concurrently, follow wikiwalet , enrol your bh to NWO project :) If you seriously willing to pay for tailored made sound haha better consider donate to wikiwalet blogpost. You will be surprise the type of sound selection i will be sharing and the quality of the sound i have in my collection.. If your consultant have 500 swiftlet sounds just imagine this blog already shared almost 500 sounds and how many sounds i have collected for my swiftlet sound collections?

had to agree with you wiki, blackcloud used to be a great crowd puller and never a good sound to attract birds to stay in bh... After listening to a lot of swiftlet friends review i totally get ride of this sound from my playlist. Something is just not right with this sound donno how to explain, maybe the hidden sound.

Being accepted in wiki swiftlet sound NWO project is my honor. I am just like kamikaze in the front line because I have nothing to lose. Maybe I am the best candidate in your project to start with zero. Ha ha.....
From the reply i can realised the important of the nesting room. From the beginning the consultant advised it is not wise to build nesting room because this will limit the bird flying path. My bh is 24’ X 80’ X 3 is it too small for nesting room? If can I will plan this out during next holiday due to the bh is 300KM away from my house.
For the sound I really hope wiki willing to share with me, babyking, desire inap, victory inap, limitless version and EH1 or any sound that would like me to try.

I always find this sound very important for our Swiftlet sound but many ppl find it not so wise to select such sound for their external , believing this baby sound will make the sound less impressive and eventually birds will fly away... my dear friend something I want to share for those already find themselves willing to start exploring sound editing NOTE : to unleashed the best out of this shh shh sound , play with your sound program try to make your sound selection as realistic as possible , best time for this sound is morning and evening .
